Area gas monitors are primarily used for perimeter protection against the presence of hazardous gases in a defined area. It is typically used in industrial settings, such as chemical plants and oil refineries, where there is a risk of exposure to toxic or flammable gases.

Although workers should wear portable gas detectors when working in or around hazardous areas, some applications are better suited for continuous area monitoring. An area monitor provides benefits similar to those of a fixed gas detection system. However, they can be transported and repositioned to suit your needs. Area monitors are available with a wide range of sensor options, including your standard oxygen, flammable, and toxic sensors, while some can monitor VOCs using PID detection.

Gas area monitors typically have two components: a sensor and an alarm system. The sensor detects the presence of the gas and sends a signal to the alarm system. The alarm system then sounds an alarm to alert people in the area that there is a gas hazard.

Gas area monitors can be used to provide a number of benefits, including:

  • Early warning: Gas area monitors can detect the presence of hazardous gases before they reach dangerous levels. This gives people time to evacuate the area or take other protective measures.
  • Continuous monitoring: Gas area monitors can continuously monitor the air quality in an area. This helps to ensure that the area is safe for people to work in.
  • Remote monitoring: Gas area monitors can be monitored remotely. This means that people do not have to be in the area where the gas is being monitored to know if there is a hazard.

Gas area monitors are an important safety device for industrial settings. They can help to prevent accidents and protect people from exposure to hazardous gases.
